Q&A – Frequently Asked Questions

Who paints your art?

All artwork is painted by Stephen Hogarth, unless otherwise stated.

Why are your bags made in China?

The main reason is cost. The materials used in our bags make Australian production significantly more expensive—nearly triple the price. By manufacturing overseas, we can offer more affordable products while maintaining high-quality standards.

Additionally, our Products are produced by trusted third-party companies such as WW Souvenirs and KW Souvenirs, which source manufacturing overseas for cost efficiency. Quality remains our top priority!

Are you Aboriginal?

Yes. As part of the Stolen Generation, tracing my family tree has been challenging, but I am Aboriginal.

In recent years, I participated in the National Geographic DNA survey, which collected DNA from Aboriginal people across Australia. My DNA carries a unique genetic strand that originates from Australia and is among the oldest in the country, as is the case with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

How can I verify the authenticity of your Aboriginal art pieces?

All my artworks are authentic and created by me, Stephen Hogarth. I am a member of the Indigenous Art Code and Supply Nation, ensuring adherence to ethical standards in Indigenous art.

What materials do you use in your artworks?

I use a variety of materials depending on the piece, including acrylic paints on canvas and traditional materials for certain items.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes we can but due to the high costs we don’t on the website. But if you would like anything and you dont live in Australia please contact us and we will get you a quote. Shipping costs and delivery times vary depending on the destination. Contact us for details and price quote.

Are your products environmentally friendly?

We are committed to sustainability and use eco-friendly materials whenever possible.

What kind of paint do you use?

That’s a trade secret! 😉

What is PET plastic?

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a type of plastic commonly used in water bottles, soda bottles, and other packaging. You can identify PET plastic by checking for the number 1 inside the recycling symbol on the packaging.

Can I visit your store?

At this time, I do not have a physical store. Hogarth Arts is a home-based business, but you can find me at various events and markets. Check the Facebook Page to see where I’ll be next!
