Authentic Aboriginal Arts by Stephen Hogarth

Art through Imagination

Osaka Japan Expo 2025 with Trade Investment Queensland

Queensland artist Stephen Hogarth has been selected to contribute a range of handcrafted cultural items to Australia’s official presence at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. His work includes the creation of tote gift bags, luggage tags, lanyards, and an artwork card featuring the story behind the design. These gift bags will be distributed to Australian delegates attending the expo, offering a meaningful cultural touchpoint as part of Australia’s representation.

Expo 2025 will run from April 13 to October 13, 2025, under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” The international exposition is expected to host over 150 countries and attract approximately 28 million visitors. Australia’s participation will highlight Indigenous knowledge, environmental science, and cultural heritage.

Trade and Investment Queensland engaged Stephen to design and produce the delegate gift items. In addition, he has hand-painted a collection of boomerangs that will be sold in the official gift shop at the Australian Pavilion.

“It’s been a great experience working with the team at Trade and Investment Queensland,” said Stephen. “Over the past few months, I’ve been designing the artwork and coordinating production of the other items, and I’m proud to see the finished pieces heading over to Osaka. It’s also great to see my boomerangs featured in YouTube videos of people visiting the Expo.”

Although Stephen won’t be attending the event in person, he is eager to take part in future international opportunities: “If something like this comes up again, I’ll definitely be putting my hand up. I’d love to go over and be there in person.”
